Mia earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Texas Woman’s University, Master’s of Science degree from Nova Southeastern University, and she is currently working on a doctorate degree at Florida International University. Currently, Mia performs work as a Vocational Consultant and Vocational Expert, and she is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. In addition, she is a Certified Ergonomics Assessment Specialist, which enables her to develop and implement Ergonomics, Safety, and Injury Prevention programs as well as identify risk factors in office and industrial settings. Previously, she worked as a Unit Supervisor and a Senior Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the Florida Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, and a Career Resource Specialist/Supported Employment Job Coach in a private sector.
She is experienced in vocational counseling, reviewing disability-related documents to create comprehensive vocational rehabilitation plans, caseload management, conducting job analysis, and placing individuals with diverse disabilities into employment. She has strong knowledge on pre-employment skills training, including working with corporate partners to identify suitable candidates for positions. She has been published in peer-reviewed literature on corporate personality testing for individuals with disabilities in pre-employment settings.
