Luisa earned a bachelor’s degree in clinical psychology from UNIBE in the Dominican Republic in 2006 and a Master’s degree in Forensic psychology from Argosy University in Washington, DC in 2012. She has over 10 years of experience in working in the human services field in various capacities. Her work history includes working with a variety of people with disabilities and a multicultural population. She is fluent in Spanish and English.
Luisa worked in the field of Vocational Rehabilitation since 2015, most recently as a vocational rehabilitation counselor for the Florida Department of Education, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. As a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, she was able to help people with disabilities overcome barriers to accessing, maintaining or returning to employment or useful occupation. She has also spent time as a VR counselor studying jobs and their requirements to better assist people with disabilities.
She has worked with victims of domestic violence making safety plans, recommendations for risk management, obtaining protection orders, and providing court testimony regarding recommendations. Luisa has worked as a case manager for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who were also involved in the court system helping them navigate through community resources.
